Glenorchy Spartans Basketball Association is an inclusive, community-minded and family-friendly club catering for all levels of basketball.


Junior & Senior Representative basketball through to club competitions and social basketball rosters.

    Representative and club-based basketball competitions for players from U10s through to U18s. GBA participates in the Tasmanian Junior Basketball League (TJBL) for representative basketball (highest level) and Western Basketball Conference (WBC) for domestic players.

    Representative Senior Basketball in southern Tasmania playing in the Tasmanian Southern Basketball League (TSBL) - the highest level of senior competition in Hobart. Our premier men and women's divisions for the club.

    GBA competes in the U22 competition held in the second half of the year, providing a key pathway for players transitioning from junior ranks into senior representative basketball. The Championship roster is delivered by Basketball Tasmania and the Shield roster coordinated by Western Basketball Conference.

    Glenorchy Basketball Assoication operates GBA Sundays a social senior competition. Catering for all playing abilities and teams the competition has six men divisions and one open women's division with games played on a Sunday.

    Glenorchy Basketball Association works in partnership with Stars Basketball to offer a relaxed and fun environment for people of all abilities. A welcoming space and roster for players with learning or physical disabilities to enjoy the love of the game.

Glenorchy Basketball Association (GBA) is one of the youngest basketball clubs in Hobart in southern Tasmania. Established in 2016, GBA was formed as a result of an amalgamation of existing senior and junior clubs to form one strong and united entity to cater for the northern suburbs of Hobart. Glenorchy Spartans is now one of the largest and most successful associations in the south.

GBA took the points with a strong defensive last quarter to cement their finals position in season 2026 with Thompson leading from the front. Hey GBA Family, I have a very important announcement to make, recently our very own @ngeard was nominated for the Good Sports Volunteer of the year award for all the work she has done for the Glenorchy Basketball Association. Results were released last week, and Nat won the Good Sports Volunteer of the Year for Tas!!!! Congratulations this is a very well-deserved award!?? Nat also won the runner-up award for the entire country, what an amazing achievement! Thanks for everything you do Nat. On Saturday April 4 Nat was interview by Chris Rowbottow for ABC Tasmania Grandstand. Boys turn on Thursday as the U18 Rep Squad teamed up with the U12 boys Rep squad. The older boys led the U12s through some dribbling drills before some competitive dribble relays kicked in. First time for some of our U12s stepping up to representative basketball and fantastic to have the older members of our club helping them out and seeing them each week at training. Both Hallie and Sam started their basketball careers with Revs from u10s and this year finish off their junior years in U18 Championship teams. Both are also members of our senior men and women’s squads. Both individuals have grown and evolved over the years as players, mentors, coaches, referees and integral members of our Association. They are both incredible role models, continually give back to the club and lead by example in the way they conduct themselves on and off the court. Both groups are looking to build and take it up to the competition in 2026 with a mix of youth and NBL1 talent and will be looking to push squads to go one step further. The last junior Rep tournament for the year U18 state champs this weekend in Devonport / Ulverstone. Girls only one loss for the weekend going down in the semi final and winning final game to finish 3rd. Boys a similar story going down in semi and then an OT thriller to go down by 1 point and finish fourth. Well done to all teams, players, coaches and support crew. Thanks to Western Basketball Conference the 22 Shield women’s roster got off the ground with 4 teams battling it out. Our GBA U22 Shield Women’s team is a mix of players in their late teens who have aged out of juniors along with emerging juniors seeking their first taste of senior basketball. So a great opportunity for players to keep playing and very proud of their endeavours. Gracing the stadiums of Warrane, Clarence and Lauderdale Primary they have been strutting their stuff from the cutest u8 superstars (gosh they are the best!!) through to Div 1 boys (3 wins from 4), 2 x Div 2 boys who faced off against each other this morning and our rockstar U10 girls who went undefeated all weekend!!!
